POWER PLANT AUGUST NEWS
August 2018 September 2018 Update Missionary Books Missionary Books are still in full swing! Even though we have finished our 6 week missions series, kids will have through August to finish their books. Each week, they need to check them out on the clipboards in the power plant, and when they return them, they need to put up a sticker. Some are getting close to their goals! Read 6 Books- Invited to Nerf Gun Party or Ice Cream Party Read 10 Books- Candy Bar and can invite a friend to Nerf/ Ice Cream Read 15- Lunch with Tracy at a place they choose (some limitations) Read 20- Skyzone Back to School Bash- August 8 Yikes! Summer is almost over!! :( Join us on August 8 at Flashover Sports for a fun Back to School Bash! Meet us at the church at 6:15 pm and we will return at 8:30. If you could let Tracy know if you plan on coming, just so we can have a head count of how many we’re bringing, that would be great! Bring $10 and socks! IMPORTANT! Flashover needs a waiver signed for each child, please go to www.flashoverindoor.com and fill out waiver on the black tab at the bottom of the screen. Promotion Sunday- August 12 August 12 is Promotion Sunday! All kids will begin in their current class, then during class, they will move to their next class with their new teacher. For example, if you have a second grader going into third, they will still go to Ms. Joan’s class, then Liz and her class will come and get them as they promote up. Donuts and milk will be available for all kids that day. This will be the last day for 6th graders in the Power Plant. 6th graders will pick their favorite songs and/ or games to help lead for their last day. This will be the first day for all 1st graders. All 1st graders will be “clapped in” and all 6th graders will be “clapped out.” Pastor Ben and the youth group have lunch plans with the 6th graders that day. Baptism- August 26 Is your child interested in getting baptized? We recommend 2nd grade or older to make that decision. We have some baptism books available upon request. There is an informational class for kids on August 22 at 6 pm. (Adult class at 6:30) Please talk to Pastor Tracy if you or your child is interested. Curriculum We try to have fun in the Power Plant, but we also work hard to learn God’s truths for our lives. We work hard to learn from the Bible, different lessons that God has for us today. Right now, we are in a series called GIANT, learning about different lessons from the story of David and Goliath. We want to have fun, but much more importantly we want to learn God’s truths and dig into the Bible. Each week you can find out this information and what else is happening in Children’s Ministry by checking the Children's section on the inside of the bulletin! I love getting to hang out with your kids! Pastor Tracy
