Hey Parents!
Our Wednesday night Boost classes start tonight! I hope that school is off to a great start for everyone! One of the reasons we meet on Wednesday evenings to give you a Boost of encouragement and support to get through the week. There are classes for kids, teens, adults, and there’s childcare for three and under! My kids are excited when Wednesday nights are in session. There’s just a different feel to Wednesday evenings, a more relaxed- time to connect- kids hang in the gym-kind of time. Typically in the past on Wednesdays, you would find me (Tracy) teaching in the Power Plant, but I am actually going to take six weeks and teach an adult class and I’ve asked my friends Kathy Bishop and Jeremy Smith to teach for me the next several weeks on Wednesday evenings. I am going to be facilitating the Intentional Parenting Class that will meet in the room right next to the Power Plant. It’s been something that has been on my heart for quite some time. There are other adult classes offered as well: Journey through the Bible, Financial Peace, and a couple others. We offer different classes for adults throughout the year, so you can find what works best for you. 5th and 6th graders! Starting this Sunday, September 8, Brian and Nichole Bash will be pulling 5th and 6th graders for part of the time out of the Power Plant. Everyone will still start in the Power Plant, then after some all group activities, Bash’s will pull the 5th/ 6th graders to do a cool time of devotions and lesson with them. You will still drop them off and pick them up from the Power Plant, but I think this time with the Bash’s will be really cool! Kids Choir- Grandparent’s day- October 6- Amy Mead will be having a kids choir to perform on Grandparent’s Day. Typically we have all the kids in the Power Plant go and sing a song, we thought we would make it more open and try something new this year. If that is something your son or daughter really enjoys, please tell Tracy or Amy ASAP. J I always think that those performances do so much for a child’s self-esteem to see everyone cheering for them and smiling at them. Amy always does awesome stuff, so let us know! Family Hayride- Friday, October 4, 6pm-8pm-Bring your family and join us for some smores and a hayride out at Brian and Nichole Bash's farm! UPWARD SPORTS- Upward Basketball and Cheerleading registration will open here at the beginning of September! It is one of the most powerful ministries I know! Hopefully you can get involved this year with your child! I love Upward! J Twice Blessed Sale- September 15-21, 2019- If you’re looking to make some friends or just find some good deals on your kids clothes, you will want to go to twiceblessedsale.org to sign up to volunteer to help! When you volunteer, you get to shop early! It’s totally worth it! J Annual Volunteer Training- September 25 @ 5:45 pm, September 29 at 8:00 am- If you work in children’s ministry in any capacity at our church or if you would like to, please plan on attending one of these times. The children’s council will bring yummy food for you at each meeting, and we try to make it in one hour. This helps us meet our requirements of training and we would love it if you could make it! Alabaster- September 29, 2019- Alabaster is a special offering we take twice a year where we collect coins to give to missions. This September our offering will go to help fight human trafficking. This sensitive topic will NOT be covered in Power Plant, we will leave that up to you as parents to cover. We will simply call it an offering to fight slavery, just so you know! Revival-October 13-16, 2019- Every year our church brings in a special speaker and focus for a few days usually in October. On Sunday and Wednesday night of Revival, we have fun theme nights for kids! Stay tuned! Christmas Musical- December 8, 2019- Save the Date! Watch for more information to come! Baptism- the next baptism service is January 27, 2020- If your child is interested, please let me know. We will have a baptism class on Wednesday, January 16 in the Power Plant Your kids are fun! Thanks for sharing them with me! Pastor Tracy

Watch for more activities geared to 5th/ 6th graders! They are not in the youth group yet, and are still in the Power Plant elementary ministry with Pastor Tracy, we’re just trying a separate small group time during the Power Plant hour to see how it goes. Our kids need school, they need an education- but they also need Jesus. If I could have one wish it would be the message below: Take your kids to church. Make the effort. Wake them up early. Fool with the belts and the buckles and the fancy hair bows. Endure the sleepy, grumpy faces and the misplaced shoes. Run around like a mad woman gathering everybody’s everything and trying to get out the door on time. Hop to the car with a shoe in one hand and your Coffee in the other. Give those babies a pop-tart and some milk and let ‘em eat it in the car. If its raining, get wet. If its cold, get a jacket. If you’re tired, go tired. But take those babies to church. You know why? Because Jesus is there. He’s there. And He’ll meet them there. And you too, Mama. He’ll be there in the sweet smile of their Sunday School teacher as she greets them into their room. He’ll be there in the goldfish and the apple juice and the filling of their little bellies and hearts. He’ll be there in the hug from a sweet friend and the encouraging smile that assures you that they “just barely made it” too. He’ll be there in the sacred words read from the Bible speaking truth to their little impressionable hearts. He’ll be there in the worship and the raised hands and the watery eyes and whispers of praise. So take them. Carry all of their Bibles and drawings and toilet paper tube creations. Sit by them in worship. Open your Bible and open theirs. Show them how to find the scripture the pastor is preaching from. Show them how to worship. Explain to them why He’s worthy of worship. Let them see you laugh and cry and praise and study. Forgive their wiggles and paper rustles and know that they’re listening even when it seems like they aren’t. Ask them questions and answer the ones they ask you. Introduce them to Jesus. Tell them of His greatness - his power - his faithfulness. Tell them with your words and show them with your life. Tell them what he’s done for you and how you’ve been changed by His grace and forgiveness and goodness and love. Tell them how they can be too. Point them to Jesus. Over and over and over again. Take your kids to church. They’ll love it there. It’s the only place where they can go and just be themselves. They don’t have to “be” good enough or smart enough or athletic enough. They don’t have to perform for approval or achievement. They just get to go and hear how much God loves them. Just because they’re them. Just because He created them, they’re valued. Wanted. Their worth isn’t based on the grades they make or their ability to throw a curveball. Its not dependent on their performance or skill level. And they need a little more of that, don’t you think? A little more grace and a little less pressure. A little more love and a few less demands. Take them to church. Before you take them to the ballfield or the dance studio or the gym. Before you take them on vacation or to grandma’s or to the backyard to play. Take them to church. Let them know its a priority. Show them it has eternal value. Let them see you set aside schedules and extra curricular activities and work and busy-ness to be present with the Lord in His house. I promise you won’t regret it. I promise you it won’t return back void. Take them to church. (Borrowed) Author unknown. See you soon! Pastor Tracy [email protected] VBA night 1 was last night and it was a BLAST!! Don't miss out the rest of the week! Tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday from 6-8:30 pm! Sunday Funday is this week, July 14. There's a potluck picnic where we are asking everyone to bring two dishes to share and hotdogs will be provided! After lunch on the lawn will be face painting, $1 slushies, inflatables, train rides, police car, fire truck, and a gaming trailer! Did we mention that is all for free?! Yeah, you won't want to miss it!!
Church camp! Church camp will be here soon and if you're interested in your child going or have questions about church camp, please let me know!! Our church pays half of the price in order to make it more reasonable and affordable for you to attend. You will click on "my church will mail a check" and then write a check to FFCN for half the price. It will also ask who is picking up your child from camp, I ask that you put my name in one of the spots, so if I have a group of kids from our church that I'm picking up, I can grab them all. Go to nwonazkids.org to register! Swimming! July 31 is our next NAZ KIDS fun night! We will be swimming at Josh Robb's parents house. We will meet at the church at 6:30 and return by 8:30. If you plan on coming, shoot me a text or email so I have an idea for how many to expect! Did you know that studiesw show that 75% of church kids will walk away from the church between the ages of 18-29. One factor that was present in the lives of the 25% who stayed was "A Significant Adult". It s so important to have someone in the lives of kids who believes the same thing as mom and dad but are NOT their mom and dad. This is a prime opportunity for we who serve in children's ministry. We can be such an important variable in the lives of kids. I feel like children's ministry plays a critical role, and in a few years (tears) your children will be teens! Help by getting them involved and connected not only in children's ministry, but soon in youth ministry as well! I love summer!! Thanks for letting me hang out with your kids!! Having a BLAST at VBA! Hope to see you tonight! Pastor Tracy Parent’s Night Out- This Friday night, February 15 from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Want to go on a date? Want to go to get groceries by yourself? Let me know ASAP! This is a great event to invite friends to as well! Promotion Sunday for 6th graders? Typically promotion Sunday for all grade levels in when kids go back to school in August, but our leadership team has been discussing the idea of promoting 6th graders from the Power Plant at the beginning of June or so? They would still stay in their same Sunday School class with Sandy Sertell, but would begin doing other teen activities for the summer? We welcome your feedback and we realize each child is different, just brainstorming. I would really appreciate your feedback or thoughts if you have a 6th grader. Hey everyone!!
I pray this Christmas season and New Year's, you've been able to find a few minutes of down time and been able to put your feet up for a few. I pray that in the midst of the hectic schedule and errand running, that you see the joy of your kids and your family. In the midst of crazy, may you still find a way to savor the precious. Your kids are very precious. I'm so thankful I get to hang out with them on Sundays and Wednesdays!! Here's some things that are happening! 1. Upward Sports begins this coming Saturday, January 5! Orientation Day is at 8:30 am at Parkview, 9 am at the Naz, and 10:45 at the Naz for cheerleading. Woo hoo!! Did you know this is our 20th year hosting Upward Sports?! Such a spectacular program to reach so many kids for Christ! 2. Intentional Parenting Book Study- Parenting can be hard, I get it. What battles do we pick? When do we hold firm, when do we let go? How do we build nurture and relationship while still enforcing screen time, discipline, attitude, and manners? It's a balancing act for sure. Would anyone be interested in joining me on a book study of Intentional Parenting? I've been thinking about this for a while. There's a couple books about intentional parenting. I'm working on the details of when/ where I would host the book study, but right now I'm trying to get a handle if who or how many of you may be interested and then I'll go from there. 3. Baptism- the next baptism is Sunday, January 27. The kids baptism class will be January 16 at 6 pm. Please let me know if you or your child are interested! 4. Parents Night Out- we had a fun parents night out in December! Mark your calendars for February 15! Drop your kids off and go!! More details will come, but I will need you to RSVP to me so I can make sure we have enough snacks/ crafts! 5. Mark your family calendar now for VBA 2019!! Save the dates for July 7-14!! It will be another amazing year!! You know before I worked at the church, I was an Elementary School teacher for 10 years. I only got to see kids for one school year. Getting to see your kids grow in their faith from 1st through 6th grade is pretty cool!! :) Happy New Year!! Blessings and peace to you and your family, Pastor Tracy ALABASTER- This Sunday, September 23, 2018 Morning Services
Alabaster Offering is this Sunday, September 23! Alabaster happens two times a year and one of them is this Sunday!! If you can send your spare change with your child on Sunday, we will give to the Alabaster Offering. If you don’t have one, your son or daughter can grab a small Alabaster box and when they have spare change throughout the year, they can put it in the box and then bring that. Or just put some change in a baggie and that will work too! :) What is Alabaster? Great Question! Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects, and the entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers. You can also visit http://www.nazarene.org/special-offerings for more information. NERF PARTY/ ICE CREAM- This Sunday, September 23, 2018, 6 pm Missions Book Celebration! Every year we spend a good 6 weeks in the Power Plant learning about Missions and other countries! Along with the 6 week Missions Unit, the kids are encouraged to read some missions books that I think expand their thinking and help them deepen their understanding of missions and the work of God all over the world. If your child has read at least 6 books they qualify to come this Sunday night to eat ice cream or play nerf war! We have some other incentives for Missions Books and I think I’m going to be taking some kids to lunch/ dinner soon!! :) REVIVAL THEME NIGHTS- Sunday, September 30, 2018 and Wednesday, October 3, 2018 Revival is something that our church feels is important and worthwhile. For kids we do a couple of fun theme nights on Sunday Night and Wednesday night. There will be meals on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings starting at 5:30 to make it easier for you and your family to make it. Sunday, September 30- Spy Night! Have your son or daughter dress up like their best version of a spy if they want!! We’ll do some fun spy challenges and learn about some spies in the Bible! Wednesday, October 3- Pajama and Game Night! Your kids can wear their pajamas and bring a favorite game!! We will play some games in the gym and learn a lesson in the Power Plant too! Pastor Susan will be doing fun things with these themes too! Monday and Tuesday of Revival are “family nights” where kids join their parents in the services! GRANDPARENTS DAY- October 7, 2018 We honor our grandparents on this day and have photo booths for your family! Power Plant also usually sings a song in the service on that day! There is an informational class for kids on August 22 at 6 pm. (Adult class at 6:30) Please talk to Pastor Tracy if you or your child is interested. Curriculum We try to have fun in the Power Plant, but we also work hard to learn God’s truths for our lives. We work hard to learn from the Bible, different lessons that God has for us today. Right now, we are in a series called GIANT, learning about different lessons from the story of David and Goliath. We want to have fun, but much more importantly we want to learn God’s truths and dig into the Bible. Each week you can find out this information and what else is happening in Children’s Ministry by checking the Children's section on the inside of the bulletin! I love getting to hang out with your kids! Pastor Tracy Hey Parents!

Aug 8- Back to School Bash at Flashover Sports- 6:30-8pm I’ve had some families ask me about devotional book ideas for kids. I have some ideas, but any ideas on a small bookshelf that we could put some books for resources for parents and families? I’m just brainstorming. Hope you all have a fantastic week!! Hey Parents!
How's everyone doing? I hear there's been a bunch of sickness going around! Yikes! Kill those germs! I just want to keep you in the loop of a few things going on. Community Bible Experience First, how's the book reading going? I have a few more of the kids Bible reading books, so if you're interested, find me in the Power Plant on Sunday. I know for me, reading through these prophets, gives me so much gratitude for the gift Jesus gave us by dying on the cross for our sins! There are some key verses in the midst of intensity in Isaiah, one of my favorites in Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." The fasting is hard, and I pray that God is doing a great work in your lives through this discipline. As I told you, we have given up TV, and that has been difficult! We almost didn't make it through the snow day last week, but we've gotten a lot of books read!! :) Alabaster Offering Second, Alabaster is coming up on Sunday, February 25 if you could send spare change with your child. This is a special offering we take 2 times a year that goes directly to missionaries and the mission field to build churches, schools, and hospitals. So, it's pretty cool and each year in the Power Plant, we do a special unit studying missionaries or a different country on the mission field. You can bring your change in any container, baggie, or if you have an Alabaster box...whatever works! :) Upward Sports Third, Upward is in full swing! I could use some help! The children's ministry is in charge of the Naz Snack Shack on February 24, so if you or your child could give a hand that day, please let me know. We need helpers there from 8 am to 12:30, then we need a clean up crew from 12:30 to 2. Also, I'm just going to put out a plea here, as the Upward Director, I need help with Awards Night on Sunday, March 11. I need people to help set up chairs at 5 pm on Saturday, March 10 for an hour or so, I also am in need of greeters and helpers for the actual Awards Night on March 11 around 4:15 pm. So, if you're available for any of those, that would really help me out!! Pointing Kids to Christ Fourth, I just hope you're doing well and I pray for you and your kiddos a lot. I pray that we, as a church and as a children's ministry, can come along side you as parents and help you disciple your kiddos. I pray that as you and I try to do our best at this parenting thing and teaching our kids intentionally and fervently Biblical values, that God will come along and fill in the gaps of our weaknesses as we try and point our kids towards him. Love ya all, Pastor Tracy 419-202-4084 Hey Parents!
I hope everyone is doing well, and staying warm! Don't forget about Parent's Night Out this Friday night, February 9, 2018 from 6:30-8:30. That is our Valentine's present to you! :) If you don't want to go to dinner, just go get groceries by yourself or sit and home and relax! :) Please text me/ email me/ call me if your kiddos are coming, so we can make sure we have enough craft materials! Are you still interested in the kids book for the Bible Experience reading through the prophets? I sold the handful I had, but I'm about to make another order tomorrow and they come in pretty fast. If you would like one for your family for a $5 donation, let me know! Also, coming up fast is Alabaster Sunday on February, 25! Alabaster is a special offering taken that goes specifically to help missionaries and the mission field build schools, hospitals, and churches. There are Alabaster boxes available, or you could just have your child bring change in a baggie or jar. Whatever works for you! We had such an awesome baptism service on January 28th! If you're child expressed interest, please let me know. Our next baptism will be April 8, with the kids baptism class being on April 4 at 6 pm. Save the Date! Easteriffic is March 24th from 9am-11am! We try to pack this day not only with a bunch of fun, but with an awesome Easter message and great food! Just wanting to keep you informed, have an amazing rest of your week!
